We are DTC!

We are one step closer to getting to China.

Today we moved into the DTC category, or Dossier to China. This basically means that all of our paperwork (our dossier) has been returned from being authenticated in local offices in Alabama and the Houston Consulate and is on its way to China.  From this point it usually takes 2-3 weeks to be "logged in" in China. Being logged in basically means you are in the system in China and can actually get a referral for a child and be matched.  Please pray with us that we get logged in very quickly.

And a huge THANK YOU to those that have already claimed an envelope number. Please let us know what number you would like! And if you have a special reason for choosing a certain number, we would love to hear it!

150 Envelopes for Baby Thomas

You are probably wondering what in the world 150 red envelopes has to do with our adoption...

Well, let me just tell you!

In China, it is a tradition to give money in a red envelope for the Chinese New Year or at other special events, such as birthdays or weddings. (Red symbolizes luck in China.) Hence, our 150 red envelopes fundraiser was born!

Please consider participating in what we hope will be our LAST fundraiser for Baby Thomas.

The way it works is simple. You choose a number between 1 and 150. Whatever number you choose is how much you are agreeing to donate to our adoption. It's that simple!  As people donate, I will mark off the "envelopes" on the picture below so we can see how many envelopes we have to go!

The truly amazing thing about this fundraiser is... if it is successful we will have reached our complete goal for our adoption!!!

This is an awesome way for you and/or your family to join us in helping get our little one home from China.  (We hope to be able to have more specifics on who exactly that will be very soon!)

To claim an envelope, just let either me or Chris know! You can tell us on Facebook, e-mail us, text us, tell us in person, etc. If the number you want is taken, we will just give you another number very close to the one you chose.

Moving forward

I am going to try my best to start updating on the blog more frequently with how things are going with our adoption, especially since things are moving faster since we switched to the China program.

Our paperwork has gone through the authentication process here in the United States and should be on it's way to China this coming week.

It will take about two to three weeks for us to receive our "Log-In" date.

Once logged in, we can be matched with our kiddo! It is possible to be matched before you are logged in, it is just a little more risky because there is no guarantee of how long our agency will have a child's file.

Please pray right now as we are actually making some important decisions regarding this!

Once we receive a match, we will have to wait 2-3 months to receive approval from the Chinese government. Once we receive approval, we will be waiting another 2-3 months to actually travel to China to pick up our little one!

So, if things continue the way they are now, it is likely that we will be traveling to China in about 5-7 months!

We are very excited to see how it all unfolds!

In the meantime, we are going to work to raise the remainder of the funds that we need to get to China. So be on the look-out for our next (and hopefully, last) fundraiser which will be starting VERY SOON (as in tomorrow!)
